The Heard Museum is a museum and wedding venue located in the heart of Phoenix’s Art and Culture District. The museum’s ballroom is a modern take on traditional southwestern architecture.  Clerestory windows run the length of the space, each featuring a traditional stone banco for sitting and admiring the desert views.  The neutral paint reflects the light from the windows onto the dark and highly polished concrete floors. The over all feel is light, bright and airy.  We choose this venue to connected us to the  the rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions of the greater southwest. One more sentence about the minimal space.
Styling this room was all about bringing the outdoors in. Justine from Tie the knot used a base of nudes, shimmery linens, rustic ceramics and stoneware accented with the gorgeous floral creations of Rachel King Floral. Rachel King chose accents of pink, apricot and toffee for the table top. She created two free standing  installations for ceremony . The flowers included  various dried grasses, foraged from the Sonoran Desert. Rachel King is forever inspired by bringing together the great outdoors with her love for floral design. 
Justine thinks a beautiful wedding starts with choosing the right creatives and then allowing them to do what they do best.  A minimalist table doesn’t have to be stark. I wanted the space to feel earthy and inviting. We created depth and interest by keeping the palette neutral, layering items with different patterns and textures. 
One of my favorite  details was the charcuterie board and signature cocktails which incorporated the color palette of the day.  She thinks food should be comforting, approachable and a delight for all the senses. Don’t be afraid to forgo one large wedding cake for several smaller cakes and incorporate them into the overall design. In Justines opinion, too many wedding cakes are banished to the corner of ballrooms.  
The Lillian West bridal gown features a classic A-line silhouette with a sweetheart neckline. The models wore Native American handmade silver  jewelry featuring white buffalo and green turquoise. The groom wore a traditional bolo tie paired with a contemporary suite.
